That's a very, very frozen Lake Huron past the playground park in Tawas, Michigan. Ice fishing has been hit or miss the last couple of winters, but ice fishermen are sitting pretty with the temps this year.

It's amazing what can happen when someone else can take the kid for a nap. Now if I can find a way to get about 6 hours a day every day instead of just a couple of hours most days if every other week, I'd be in business. Why, I might possibly even feel like a human. Productive member of society and all that jazz.

On the work table today is a black wool felt needle book for my sister. Nice thick wool and gorgeous, bias cut, pale lavender silk binding on the cover. Easy, quick project for working on between taking care of a toddler and baby.
It's winter. Michigan seems to be pulling out all the stops this year and boy, howdy, is this something else altogether after 4 years of Tennessee and Kentucky winters. Not just the "let it snow, white Christmas, hot chocolate drinking, ooh look at the birds on the feeder, scrape off some ice from the windshield in the morning" kind of winter, either. This is the bone-chilling, municipal pipe bursting, too cold for the ignition to turn over, Great Lake solidifying kind of winter and I am so happy to be holed up inside my sister's house with our Mom and our children. Here's hopping you and yours are able to stay warm comfortable through the next few weeks.
